holiday absence : Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 - 2:19 a.m.

Why is it that the pain just gets worse every year? Nobody ever tells you that. Nobody ever warns you. Christmas will just... never be the same, I guess.

I miss her.

close your eyes and sleep your guilt away : Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 - 11:56 p.m.

I think whether you're against or for the death penalty, the William's case is very interesting. I think he's a very valuable asset - I don't get why we'd discourage prisoner reformation, when he seems to be converting and helping a lot of children. It's kinda like Michael Corleone speaking out against the mob - he seems to hold a lot of weight and have a lot of respect among gang members, and thus they listen to him. Why kill a diplomat? Why cut the phone line?

Not only that, why create a martyr? I believe this is mostly politics, and the Governor wants to make an example to please the Republicans. Instead of the prison system being a place of compassion - where one can get help if you're involved in gangs, and want to turn your life around - instead, it's become even more of a dead end, deserving of more hatred. I see reformed prisoners as being more helpful to society, than those who just rot there, doing nothing; treated like dirt.

What are the three guidelines for prison? Reformation, becoming a productive member of society, and then punishment. I'm not a person who believes that "an eye for an eye" works, and I don't think we'll get anywhere by killing this guy.

Where's the punishment when you're dead? Seems like you just get to sleep, to me. Once you close your eyes, you no longer have to think about what you did - you no longer have to realize why you're in prison. And up to the death penalty, you just think of your own death - not of those that got you there.

But, eh. I'm betting this doesn't get Schwartzeneggar re-elected. But then again, I've heard that he wasn't worth re-election, to begin with.

don't wander off : Friday, Dec. 09, 2005 - 11:30 p.m.

Saw Narnia earlier today - and I'm happy to report that it was absolutely awesome. Truly awesome. I haven't been this satisfied with a movie since I saw Return of the King - it was just so.... beautiful. I can't get over it. All the actors were so good - the cinematography was awe-inspiring - the dynamics of all the characters... it was almost exactly like the book. The actions, the dialogue - they added some stuff at the beginning, so that people would understand the War, but other than that... I have no doubt this will deeply satisfy the book purist. And being a HUGE fan of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, it did for me.

Really, I still can't get over it. I'm going to go see it again, as soon as I can convince someone else to go. It was just that bloody good.

(OH!!! - and I have to mention the CGI. If anything, go see it for that. Aslan is one of the best CGI characters done since Golem.)

* mood: tired. Experiencing sugar-withdrawel.
* background noise: Firefly commentary for "Out of Gas".
* thinking: "It is way too late at night."
* also thinking: "Sleeping in my room is like sleeping in a cryogenics lab. Ergh."

strawberry fields forever : Thursday, Dec. 08, 2005 - 5:46 p.m.

Everyone knows what day it is. Do you think there were people, 25 years ago, who thought, "God, where will I be, when that anniversary comes up? Will people still be talking about John Lennon?"

Of course, of course.

I'm going to see BNL tonight, and I have no doubt they'll mention something about it. Maybe if I'm lucky, they'll sing one of his songs, too.

But on a different note: A girl I really like will be at the concert. I just met her online, several days ago. We're still too shy to see each other, but it'll be nice - I mean, she can reference the jokes from the Cities 97 BNL concert two years ago. Now, that says something... that she's about as crazy as I am.

Fate? Maybe. I'm wearing my best lipstick, just in case.

He has my vote for God, too. : Thursday, Dec. 08, 2005 - 2:39 p.m.

Bitchcakes: Which is a word I'll be saying repeatedly throughout the next week. Hee.

March of the Penguins : Monday, Dec. 05, 2005 - 11:51 p.m.

Why is it that life is so hard for Emperor Penguins? It's like, Braveheart, down there in Antartica. Or Jamestown. Something to that affect.

But baby penguins are so damn cute. I'm sure I would still think so, once they started pecking my eyes out.

I want his mother's necklace, too. : Thursday, Dec. 01, 2005 - 10:45 p.m.

Sister and I watched Garden State; which is such an adorable movie. Zach Braff is that cute, quirky sort-of-guy - though he's dating my girlfriend. Grr.

But him and Natalie Portman worked really well together. My only qualm with the movie was wondering how much was true-to-life, and how little was probably fabricated. I got the sense I know way too much about him, now. But I could be wrong - he could be just a really great actor. *loved him on Scrubs.*

"What do we do, now?"

That is the question, isn't it?

svelte issues are not so bad... : Thursday, Dec. 01, 2005 - 1:34 p.m.

Finished the fourh issue. It's kinda skinny this month, but that's just the way it is. (Was too preoccupied with NaNo.) Next month should be different, though, with the expansion - and Sister Schmoe is writing an article for it. She's reviewing Alan Rickman movies, and then rating them on an Evil!Snape scale, from 1-5. heh. I keep trying to argue her out of a rating of 5 for "Love Actually", though - heart necklace doth not equal aveda kedavra, in my opinion. But hey, I'm not writing an article.

In other news: I'll be participating in JanNoWriMo, of course. That's how I wrote To Breathe/You Are almost two years ago. And then there's NaNoEdMo, which seems like a decent-enough cooling-off period for Enemistad. I kinda look forward to that, actually. I have good feelings that I could have a finished manuscript by the end of next year. That would be a start.

* mood: lazy. I should be cleaning, or something.
* TV: Court TV's "Trial Heat".
* thinking: "What am I gonna write in January?"
* also thinking: "Poor Scully is feeling neglected, aww... *needs to give it a huge*"

Kaylee gets around, though... : Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 - 12:11 a.m.

Not that I'm actually complaining or anything, but lately my sister has gotten HUGELY addictive/obsessive/manic over Firefly - which, as I've said, I won't complain about, since it's a bloody good show. But I love how, back in July, my addictive/obsessive/manic behavior over Harry Potter was wrong, yet now it's... well, she doesn't say it's okay. But that's just the way it is.

Serenity isn't available anymore, since it's being released on DVD December 20th, so my sister is also going crazy over that. You have no idea how many trailers she downloaded and watched today...

But basically: I love the show myself, but my main focus is on Simon and River. Not that I don't love the other characters, but I find their storyline the most fascinating. So, seeing Ninja-River in the trailers looks kinda cool; though I'm slightly disappointed that she's an assassin, as opposed to something more original.

I think I know what character dies. I'm really not a 'shipper of anyone on the show, so I don't really care all that much. Though I think the character-in-question is a fine actor.

Okay, I'm kinda Zoe/Mal. But I really don't see it working out, so I'm not invested. Same with Mal/Kaylee, Jane/Kaylee. Because, as we all know, Kaylee is the hottest chick on the show.

But... jah. After seeing the movie, I'll feel okay with joining all the message boards and LJ communities; so I don't get spoiled.

* mood: tired. What else am I, normally?
* background noise: keys typing.
* thinking: "It's really bloody amusing that my Vulcan brother likes Ranma 1/2."
* also thinking: "I miss NaNo."

yay! : Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 - 3:23 a.m.

Maria-Sama Ga Miteru Will Return for a Third Season.

You have no idea how happy that makes me. The second season left off with a squee-moment, and all the manga translations haven't caught up to that point, yet. I've been kinda dying to know what happens - and, ya know, I'm going to go into Sachiko-withdrawel. *points at icon*

It may be less than 13 episodes, but I'll be happy with whatever I can get. :)

I... did it. : Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 - 1:34 p.m.

Oh... my.... Gods.

My Alphasmart says I only have 49,388/50,000 words; and I was just about to write an entry bitching about it; saying it would be just like Fate to screw with me, like this.

Then I compiled all 122 pages in MS Word.

And it says I have 51,150/50,000 words.

*dies*

Divo? : Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 - 12:55 a.m.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love my cat?

I do... He gives off a lot of body heat. :D

But actually, he also becomes more affectionate with each passing year. Cats are kinda like humans - your relationship has to deepen and grow, as opposed to being taken for granted.

(Though I do love my Nu-Nu - even when she eats all my strawberry pocky. >_< )

Piper is almost there. But we haven't fixed her, yet, so I haven't been able to tell if the bitchiness is her personality, or... well, whatever.

Baby Bookie is the ultimate male diva, though. His temper tantrums are lengendary.

(New Word Count: 47,268/50,000.)

* mood: exhausted. Aren't I always?
* background noise: computer humming.
* thinking: "Amazing how I only wanted to post my word count..."
* also thinking: "Nah, I wanted to hug my Baby Bookie, and wanted to share. :D"

lloyd's the man : Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 - 11:34 p.m.

New word count: 45, 198/50,000.

I'm predicting I'll finish by Saturday, but you never know. Thanksgiving just might screw everything up.

But in other news: I've been playing Tales of Symphonia; which isn't so bad. Right now I'm in the mood for mindless entertainment, and that seems to work. Though the main character's name is "Lloyd" - what the fuck? In a fantasy game about the future, all the game writers can think up is "Lloyd"?

But if I had been able to pick a name, it probably would've been Denali Nu-Nu (like in Fire Emblem). Because I'm all original, like that.

*I like my name, better.*

|

after the revelation : Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 - 3:44 a.m.

New word count: 44,359/50,000.

I'm at that part where, now, perhaps... I'm killing time. Two big things are left to happen, but otherwise... I need about 5,700 words. Can I make it?

I adore the ending; so in some ways, I'm really trying to pace myself so that I don't gallop there, gleefully. But it needs buildup, and before Eva can leave Colorado, she needs to take care of some things, first.

It'll be okay. But I just have to fret - otherwise, my superstitious nature will convince me that I'm dooming myself for some bad luck.

* mood: tired. Exhausted.
* background noise: space heater.
* thinking: "I really want to sleep."
* also thinking: "Today is Sunday. Lovely."

yes, yes you are, voldie : Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 - 11:23 p.m.

I've been saving this icon just for Sister, because she kept worry about Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort.

Sister: "God, what if I think he's sexy? He's suppose to be the Dark Lord - he's not suppose to be tall and beautiful!"

Me: "You know, they DID do CGI on Gollum ..."

Sister: "Yeah, but the actor was ugly to begin with!"

So, we went to see the movie yesterday (I enjoyed it, though it was understandably rushed), and we see Voldie re-incarnate, doing his whole Shakespearean speech in front of the DE's, and it strikes me -

Me: "He doesn't have a nose."
Sister: "That just killed the sexiness, there."

But I do have to admit: Snape was the most enjoyable character in that movie, even above the twins. Alan Rickman just keeps making that character better and better. So, as a secret "Snupin" - what am I looking most forward to, in an OotP movie?

David Thewlis and Alan Rickman. Oh yeah. Bring it on.

(Because I know they'll butcher all the lovley H/Hr moments, I just KNOW it.)

* mood: killer-queen.
* background noise: Sister shuffling through PS2 games.
* thinking: "Having seen GoF, I might become a Neville/Ginny 'shipper."
* also thinking: "But that just conflicts with fire and ice, dammit."

no pocky... wah! : Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 - 1:31 a.m.

Forgot to mention - my word count is excellent!

New Word Count: 37,741/50,000.

I went and did my voodoo, and that seemed to help. Tipless gloves, check. Sigil candles, check. Jasmine incense, check. Dragon's Blood candle, check.

It also helps that I discovered a new plot twist, just in time to elevate my word count.

So yeah... things look good. However, it should also say something that it's 1:34am, and I haven't written for NaNo yet, tonight.

O.O

Really, it's just lack of soda, that's all...

*mutters under breath, "And pocky. Where's my pocky! Wah!"*

|

grr, gargh! : Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 - 1:28 a.m.

Of course I took tomorrow off from work. Sister and I are seeing the 11:45am showing at a theater in Oakdale, which has really nice seating. It was more elevated, and I remember having a grand time watching LotR: RotK, there. Cushy chairs, all that jazz.

Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort still amuses me. Sister is afraid he'll look too pretty. I don't think he will, unless she's taken a shine to really creepy bald men, lately. (Don't think so.)

Reviews seem really good so far, so I look forward to going. Just hope that in their haste to cut all the H/Hr from the movie, they DO remember to leave Hermione in, somewhere... *crosses fingers*

* mood: jovial. No, really.
* iTunes says: "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen
* thinking: "I'll at least have the hug... 'platonic' my ass..."
* also thinking: "And there's also her being 'scared for you', his jaw dropping at the Yule Ball, Hermione kissing Harry on the head..."
* thinking^3: "Oh yeah, this movie will be fun. :D"
